About Caterpillars

Keynsham Caterpillars is a local initiative that promotes environmental awareness for children, parents and carers through outdoor play and activities.

Our philosophy is simple - children are not getting enough fresh air and are getting 'conditioned' to become consumers from an early age.

We take positive action to counteract this trend by promoting lots of outdoor play and attitudes to lead more sustainable lifestyles, such as growing your own food and learning to respect the natural environment.

In 2014 Caterpillars activities will be focussing on promoting outdoor play and self-sufficiency.
  • Outdoor play
    • Half term and Summer outings in the woods will be back
    • Caterpillars is part of the Wild Network at Project Wild Thing
    • www.playingout.net - when was the last time you saw a child playing on the street?
  •  Self-sufficiency
    • Little Plotters beings in the Spring - sow and grow delicious veg at the Community Veg Plot! Just turn up on the first Saturday of the month
    • We will get the Toy Share project going
    • We will exchange recipes and DIY toy ideas

We are part of Transition Keynsham, an initiative that works towards building more sustainable and self-reliant communities.

Caterpillars needs supporters and volunteers to help organise events and provide ideas. There are Caterpillars meetings on the fourth Friday of the month, why not turn up to see how you can help? For more details contacts keynsham.caterpillars@gmail.com.
